Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2), the virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.

Coronaviruses are enveloped, positive-sense single-stranded RNA (+ssRNA) viruses with a helical nucleocapsid. Symptoms range from mild to severe and can include fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and pneumonia.
